What starts out as a scientific expedition to Papua New Guinea develops into an exploration of the gulf that can separate two cultures. In this Emmy award-winning film, three Westerners head into the region of the Anga people—possibly the last culture with living memory of human mummification. Their goal is to find a recent mummy which might contain the freshest evidence about how the Anga preserved bodies. These clues would help them repair deteriorating mummies, and aid an Anga elder who wishes to revive the practice–using his own body.
